Modern Farmhouse Kitchen Transformation

Our once rustic home design is now being transformed, room by room, into a modern farmhouse look.  We are so excited to share with you our “almost finished kitchen” today.  What we love about it most is getting this elegant look, not to mention all the money we saved by doing it ourselves.

A few years back, I had a vision and lots of ideas about doing a home makeover...beginning with the kitchen. I started sharing my thoughts with my husband. He wasn't completely on board at first, mainly because of the unknown, (whether it was doable or not). But, you should hear him now...he's just blown away at how it turned out and is always telling me he's so glad we went through with it. He even made the comment how colors of a room really do have an effect on your mood.

If you know anything about me, my kitchen is where I spend the majority of my time.  With that said, it needed to be bright and inspiring, especially for food photography. I’m in this room of the house 90% of the time, recreating healthy meals for my family and then sharing my recipes with all of you.  It just made sense to give this room a complete makeover.

We started out by painting our walls in every room of the house, followed by painting the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Next, it was time to think about what to do with the counters. I knew the tricky part of this project was definitely going to be how to replace the countertops. At first, we thought we would replace them with real marble counters, until we found out how much it would cost to do it. I wanted the white marble look, but it was not in our budget to spend thousands of dollars to purchase new ones. I thought surely there is a way to paint over these, so I began researching.

In the meantime, I had professional after professional telling me the only thing that could be done is to replace them, that it would cost at least $5000.00 and probably more. They all said I absolutely could not paint over granite.

Well, first of all when you tell me something can't be done, that makes me want to do it even more so. I kept on with my research and came across a company called Giani. They offer a granite countertop paint kit that folks have had great success with...all for just under $200.00! I was so thrilled and knew we had to give it a shot. What did we have to lose(?) I did not want these counters staying the way they were. Well, I have to tell you, the end result exceeded our expectations. I have NEVER seen any countertop look as beautiful as these.

Supplies Needed To Complete This Project

That's it! The wonderful thing about the Giani paint kit is it has everything you need all in one box. Upgrading your kitchen on a budget is now super easy and can be completed in a matter of a couple of days.

And remember the professionals I told you about? They were pretty impressed.

Many of you have commented on the changes in my kitchen...even asking me where I purchased my beautiful "marble" countertops. So, I really wanted to give you an update and tip, (even though we are not completely finished yet).

If you're thinking of making some changes to your kitchen, make sure to check out Giani.
