Dedicating A Home To The Lord

Building a strong foundation through writing and speaking The Lord's truths upon the doorpost and walls of every room.

When we started building our house it was very important to us that we write scripture and dedicate our home to The Lord. In the Bible, Deuteronomy told the children of Israel to inscribe God's commandments on the doorposts of their home. It was a very special and sacred time together as a family. We wrote our favorite verses on each door, wall framing, and even on the floors. We prayed together and anointed each room with anointing oil. This was one of the most precious times we have ever experienced as a family and one we will never forget.

Here is our little Cheyenne, (6 years old at the time), writing her own personal message to Jesus in her bedroom.

Here is our Chanler, (13 at the time), writing statements and scripture in her bedroom.

This was a special time and just as important to our girls as it was to us.

We are so proud of our daughters and what they take a stand for.

Reasons To Write Scripture Throughout Your Home

  • A way to dedicate your home and property to The Lord.
  • There will be an indescribable peace fill your house by inviting the Lord's blessing and hand of protection in your home.
  • You are putting your trust in Jesus to guide each decision and moment.
  • It is a witness to every builder/worker that works in your home when they see those scripture verses throughout every room.

Here's my husband, (the spiritual leader of our home), writing one of his favorite verses.

Joshua 24:15

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Psalm 1:1-3

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

Deuteronomy 28: 6-10

“Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. “The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. “The LORD will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you. “The LORD will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways. Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of you.

I hope we've inspired you with our journey. Speaking and praying The Lord's truths throughout our house was of the upmost importance to us. It was truly one of the most special and sacred things we have ever done and experienced. If you have moved into a home that was already built, you can still dedicate it to The Lord and do what we did in our very first home years ago...we prayed in each room and even anointed doorposts of each room with oil. Let us know your experience, we would love to hear all about it!
