Crispy Oven-Baked Sweet Potato Fries

These Crispy Sweet Potato Fries are so addictive. They are perfect as an appetizer, snack or alongside your favorite burger. I promise you’re gonna love them.

I'm so excited to be able to share with you one of my family's favorites, - my Crispy Oven-Baked Sweet Potato Fries. These are so good and I pretty much make these every week. We usually enjoy these with a hamburger steak, but they make a great snack or appetizer as well. I absolutely LOVE sweet potatoes and they have so many health benefits. This recipe is also Whole30 and Paleo-friendly.

Health Benefits Of Sweet Potatoes

  • Boosts Brain Function
  • Promotes Vision Health (High In Vitamin A)
  • High In Antioxidants
  • Lower Glycemic Index Than White Potato
  • High Fiber

What You Need To Make These Sweet Potato Fries

Here is everything you need to make these delicious fries:

  • sweet potatoes
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • chili powder
  • chipotle powder
  • avocado oil
  • sea salt
  • fresh parsley

These fries are made with only good for you ingredients, especially the oil that I use. I use avocado oil because avocado oil will not cause inflammation in the body like certain oils do, such as peanut or canola oil. Also, avocado oil is great for cooking recipes that are cooked at high heat.

Sweet Potato VS White Potato

We love sweet potatoes around here and eat them often. I have so many recipes using this nutritious vegetable. Several years back, I eliminated white potatoes from my diet except for an occasional treat. White potatoes are very high in carbohydrates and natural sugar which drives up inflammation markers in the body, not to mention weight gain...therefore we don't eat a lot of potatoes around here anymore. I go more into detail about this in my latest soup post, my low-carb Creamy “No Potato” Soup Recipe. So be sure to check that out as well.

How To Make These Sweet Potato Fries

These fries are so simple and easy to make. Here's what you do:

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Cut sweet potatoes into desired fry shape making sure they are all cut about the same size to cook evenly.

In a large bowl, toss the fries in avocado oil and spices coating liberally with oil to make sure potatoes cook properly.

Spread fries onto two baking sheets making sure the fries are not touching. If they are touching one another, they will steam instead of crisp.

Place the baking sheet on the upper middle rack of oven. You can cook the second pan of fries on the lower rack or wait until the first batch is ready. Do make sure you keep an eye on the lower rack fries because they will cook faster.

Bake for 20 minutes. Take out of oven, turn over with tongs and bake another 15 to 20 minutes until crispy.

Take out of the oven, garnish with parsley and sprinkle with sea salt. Enjoy!

I love that these are SO easy to make and of course healthy too!

A Few Tips To Make The Best Sweet Potato Fries
  • When cutting the sweet potatoes into fries, do make sure you have a proper chopping knife. It is a miserable thing when you are cutting vegetables with a knife that is not meant for chopping larger vegetables. The right kind of knife will make all the difference in your cooking experience.
  • Cut the sweet potato fries about the same size so they will all cook evenly.
  • Spread the fries on the baking sheet making sure they are not touching one another to make sure they brown and turn out crispy.
  • Use enough avocado oil on the fries so they will cook properly.
  • When the fries are ready, add plenty of  sea salt for best flavor.

These fries are so simple to make and I know you’re gonna love them! They are definitely a family favorite around here!

Notes

Make sure to keep an eye on the fries the last 10 minutes to make sure they do not burn.  You can cook the second pan of fries on the lower rack or wait until the first batch is ready. Do make sure you keep an eye on the lower rack fries because they will cook faster.  They are better the longer they can bake because they are crispier, but you don't want them to burn.  When the fries come out of the oven, do make sure to sprinkle more  sea salt for best flavor.  Don't skimp on the salt!
