My paleo pizza crust is perfect for whenever that pizza craving hits. This recipe is gluten, grain & yeast free, but you will never know the difference. It will take you back to your favorite authentic pizza joint. You will be amazed at the taste!
Whenever my family has a pizza craving, this homemade pizza crust is our go-to recipe. It is so easy, delicious and takes little effort and time to throw together. We live waaaay out in the country, so there are not any pizza joints in sight, or healthy ones for that matter...this is our solution.
Besides being a fun little project with the kids, making a homemade pizza means you get to control the ingredients. So let's talk about the flours in this crust recipe. It’s really such a miraculous thing that happens when you combine these three, (almond, tapioca and coconut), paleo flours together. The texture and chewy crust that forms is a complete miracle in my book. I love the fact that you do not need one ounce of yeast or gluten. Who wants to mess with the extra steps of waiting on the yeast/dough to rise anyway? Certainly not me...and there are some not so pleasant potential side-effects and health concerns that can arise when consuming these two ingredients.
I once heard a wise man make the statement, "what makes bread rise?" Could the same yeast that makes bread rise also make inflammation rise in our bodies? Some triggers are headaches and pain, just to name a few. These things are not natural and just don't happen without something being the root cause. Well, it all made perfect sense to me, therefore I eliminated yeast from my diet. And the result?? My neck & back pain have totally disappeared. It truly is a miracle and I love sharing this good news to bring hope and knowledge to you.
I promise you will not miss those ingredients at all. With my recipe, you can enjoy this special treat and still feel good later. In fact, it will take you back to your favorite, authentic pizza joint. I think you will be amazed that it tastes like the real deal. I must mention, whatever toppings you decide to add, make sure to include fresh minced garlic after applying the sauce. This is what makes the pizza. It is a MUST!
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
In a bowl, whisk together tapioca flour, coconut flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder and sea salt.
In another bowl, whisk together eggs, avocado oil, apple cider vinegar and pour into dry ingredients. Combine together until dough forms.
Transfer dough to a piece of parchment paper sprinkled with 1-2 tablespoons of tapioca flour then sprinkle another 1-2 tablespoons tapioca flour on top of dough. Pat the dough all over until stickiness disappears...(may need a little more tapioca flour).
Grease pizza pan with palm shortening and lay dough onto pan. Knead out to the edges with fingers. (Add extra tapioca if needed to prevent stickiness.)
Spoon pizza sauce onto crust followed by toppings. (See recipe notes for tip).
Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Enjoy!
So grab up these ingredients, have fun putting this together and making memories in the kitchen with your family and friends. Grownup or kid, homemade pizza is a blast no matter how old you are!
I hope you enjoy this recipe and do let us know if give it a try!
